AUTAUGA COUNTY CORONER BILLY BROWN ANNOUNCES BID FOR SHERIFF!!

Autauga County Coroner, Billy Brown, has announced that he will throw in his hat and run for SHERIFF OF AUTAUGA COUNTY, ALABAMA.  A few years back, present Sheriff, James W. (Herbie) Johnson stated to the newspapers that he was the NUMBER 1 sheriff in America.  Alabama is the top state in alphabetical order, and Autauga County is the top county in alphabetical order in Alabama.  SO...therefore, if Billy would win this race for sheriff, he will be the Number 1 sheriff in America.  WHOHOO....  I'm excited that Billy's court case was dismissed and he is able to make a run for sheriff!!   http://www.prattvilleprogress.com/article/20091219/PROGRESS/912180313/1040/progress

WHO'S PATTY MURRAY???

My good friend Brandy brought me back into politics after a rough week of being away.  Thanks Brandy for the jolt of java LOL...Seems a certain Senator in Washington has mis-stated about Alabamians.  "I have stood on the line in Everett, Wash., where we have thousands of workers who go to work every day to build these planes. I would challenge anybody to tell me that they've stood on a line in Alabama and seen anybody building anything."  YES...you heard her right...we don't build anything LOL...

Well, I DO know several friends and family who work in automotives places who BUILD "things".  I had a good friend in north Alabama work at Honda.  I have a great friend, Brandy, who works in Chilton County, and a son in law who works for Hundai.  All are "building" things.  Well, I'm glad to see that several of my favorite bloggers have stood up for the state of Alabama, and voiced their opinions.  I would have sooner, had I not had my head in the sand LOL.  Brandy (Fair Justice), Kristopher (The World Around You); LeftinAlabama; and others...voiced their opinions, and rightly so.  Here is a link to the Seattle Weekly showing  our blogger's comments..

I tell you what...you can be in the worst mood, and then "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" comes on the radio, and there comes that smile!  LOL..That is the cutest song I have heard SINCE "Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer"...

Judicial Reform Meeting was Very Inspiring

Those of you who didn't get to attend the meeting last night, missed meeting a very important young woman who came from Chilton County to tell her story about almost losing her eye.  She was featured in the Clanton Advertiser on the front page back in 2007,  where she was stalked after a MySpace incident, and then wounded after a ball game in Jemison.  I was so proud of her for telling her story, and she also came with her mom and grandmother, so you missed a three generation family with a story to tell!!  Thank you to those who came, as it was much appreciated to see that THERE IS interest in Judicial Reform!  While most of the attendees were from Chilton County, there were some who came from Autauga County, but not many.  I was quite surprised that more didn't show up from Autauga County, since it was advertised in the Prattville Progress, and also on several sites, including blogs, and Facebook. 

Brandy and I are looking forward to our next meeting, and those who are reading our blogs, stay tuned and we will keep you posted through emails as well!  Our members are growing, and it's very inspiring to hear the many new stories, and know that there ARE people in the 19th Judicial Circuit who are interested in change. 

 To our "guest speaker" who backed out at the last minute, it's ok.  We had invited you to speak, because we believed you could remain "unbiased" and actually inform us of the duties and responsibilities of the Circuit Clerk's office.   We will just look up the Code of Alabama and be informed through the Code.  At least we learned that next time we will be prepared to have a back up speaker. 

To the guests who came, thank you again, and may your hearts not be troubled.  You have many who are "right there with you" and appreciate having you in our growing number of citizens who realize that change is needed and that change is coming.  God Bless!  

Letter to God by Little Girl Who Loses Her Doggie

I received this in email, and thought I would pass it on.  It was very touching, and I hope you get the message out of it.




This is one of the kindest things you may ever see..

It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey &Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by..
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

From Chilton County:  31 South into Prattville.  Go to the 3rd traffic light in Prattville (Rite Aid on right), and turn Right at the light.  GO TO DOWNTOWN PRATTVILLE...Bank Trust is on the left side, before you get into downtown Prattville.  (Main Street). 

From Elmore County:  Cobbs Ford Road into Prattville.  Go to the Walgreens/Community Cars light.  Go straight through the light, and follow Main Street DOWNTOWN (you will pass Winn Dixie on the right, and J&G's Flea & Antique Mall, and Piggly Wiggly on the left)...continue downtown, until you see Bank Trust on the LEFT. 

From Elmore County on Highway 14.  Once you come to the light in Prattville, turn LEFT, and stay in the right hand lane.  Go to the Rite Aid light and turn right.  GO towards DOWNTOWN,  staying on Main Street until  you see Bank Trust on the left.

Parker Griffith is fighting for Mammogram Screenings...Parker is AGAINST the new Mammogram Screening Guidelines for women.  The Department of Health and Human Services had a panel that recommended women DELAY getting their first mammogram until the age of 50!  I'm glad to see Parker Griffith fighting for women in this way.  KUDOS...

HOLIDAY MAIL FOR HEROES

Last year I posted about mailing our Armed Forces over the Christmas holidays to bring them cheer.  Here is a letter I received in the mail asking me to please post the same info again.  I really hope that you can participate with this project.  Tell EVERYONE you know about this project.  Our Military men and women need us all  year round but especially over the Christmas holidays.  I cannot imagine what goes through the minds of mothers who are serving overseas when they are separated from their families..their babies, children, husbands, parents, siblings, etc.  I have a cousin, Chris McKinney and a nephew Zachary Wellborn who are serving our country at the moment.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all of the ones who bravely and boldly go and give a large part of their lives to protect our lives and our freedom.

I hope you are doing well. I am working with Pitney Bowes and wanted to reach out to you regarding our 2009 “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign with the Red Cross. We certainly appreciated your post last year about the project, and want to thank you again for helping us touch so many service members, family members and veterans in 2008.

This year, the goal of the campaign remains the same: to recruit Americans to send holiday cards with their messages of thanks and cheer to service members, veterans and their families. It is our hope once again that, through this campaign, American service men and women in the U.S. and around the world will receive a much needed touch of home during this holiday season.

Secretary of State Beth Chapman Sued over Candidacy Law

Attorney Jerry Blevins  has sued Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman over candidacy rules concerning residency requirements in the 19th Judicial Circuit.  I agree with Jerry, that it's not fair to have to live within the 3 counties that comprise the 19th Judicial Circuit, in order to run for the position of Judgeship.  We could actually bring up other issues of state officials who are serving in certain positions and are not living within their jurisdictions, but I won't address that in this post.  Judge William Shashy is the judge in this particular case at the moment

The 19th Judicial Circuit DOES need an overhaul.  I hope that more attorneys from other counties, will stand up and run against some of the judges that continue to be re-elected in this Judicial Circuit.  TERM LIMITS comes to mind, right now.  http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/article/20091110/NEWS01/911100331/1007/rss02

D.C.SNIPER, JOHN MUHAMMAD EXECUTED..PRONOUNCED DEAD AT "911"

>How ironic is that for D.C. Sniper John Muhammad to die at exactly "911"?  Some people say that numbers have meaning, and in the Bible, numbers were used in many passages.  I was watching CNN last night, when the press came out and stated the details of John Muhammad before he was executed.   They watched as he "staggered" out, being assisted to walk by the prison personnel.  He did not have any last comments to the family members of the victims who were killed in his trail of terror.  I feel badly for his children, for his ex-wife, and for the victims of the terrible cross-country rampage. 

Some were curious as to if Muhammad was sedated before he was executed.  One of the prison personnel that has witnessed executions in another place, said that 13 of the prisoners that he was involved with walking to the death chamber, were offered Valium, but none of them took it.  Lethal Injection is still a prominent issue among the death penalty activists.  If you have any comments to make...concerning John Muhammad, his victims, or the death penalty, I'd like for you to voice them here. http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/11/virginia.sniper.execution/index.html

HEALTH CARE BILL PASSED BY U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES...220-215

On Saturday, the United States House of Representatives passed the Health Care Bill by a narrow margin of 220-215.  39 Democrats sided with Republicans in opposition, and one Republican from Louisiana cast his vote with the majority of the Democrats.  The United States Senate is the last hurdle of this Health Care Bill. 

Here is a quick description of the bill and what it involves.  "The $1.3 trillion-dollar bill would require individuals to buy health insurance, and would also require medium and large businesses to provide it to their employees. Consumers would be able to buy their insurance on an exchange, which would include a public insurance option for people who do not have access to insurance through their jobs. Low- and middle-income families would receive government subsidies to purchase insurance, which would be be paid for through tax increases on individuals making more than $500,000 per year, as well as fees on medical providers. I would like to hear from my readers about this issue.  I know it is a VERY CONTROVERSIAL SUBJECT, because we have readers from all walks of life that visit.  This bill will affect everyone from the rich to the poor.  Many people who do not have insurance at the moment, because they cannot afford it, will be happy....and there are MANY who do not have insurance.  On the other hand, those who do have insurance, are very afraid of the unknown, concerning whether they will be able to keep their existing insurance company, or have to change to another.  Please keep your comments straight to the point, and do not call names or state hateful messages, or I won't be able to post your comments.  I try to keep my website on an even keel, and let all opinions be heard.  I will not, however, allow others to be hurt by unkind comments.  Remember the Golden Rule when you post.  "Do unto Others, as you would have them do unto You".

It's wonderful news when you hear that a missing baby  has been found ALIVE...and well.  Little 7 month old baby, Shannon Dedrick, was found under her BABYSITTER'S bed, in a little box...but alive.  Authorities in Florida say they will be filing charges on the babysitter, her husband, and the baby's mother.

I found this quote on one of my facebook friend's profiles, and I found it very fitting for the daily life we live.  We should hold no malice towards others, although we may see differently, and have firm beliefs and ideas that would differ with those who seek malice against us.  We should be charitable to others, and help those in need.  We should be firm in our endeavors to seek justice.  We should  never give up on our goals in life, and strive to finish what we start...always seek to accomplish more.  I believe that in order to have a positive attitude in life, we must seek the good in others.  Sometimes this is very hard to do, yet we can still strive to attain this goal.  God bless each and everyone of you.

Man Leaves Behind Home, Girlfriend, Job, to find Peace in Traveling the World!

What an exciting journey!  I cannot imagine anything more exciting than traveling around the world.  I've always wanted to go to Switzerland, or Paris, France, or Vienna, or IRELAND...Everytime I see the Irish landscapes, I want to jump in the car, drive to an airport, (oops, no, I would hate to fly)...I guess I'd  have to ride a boat LOL.. But anyway, you get the drift.  Travel is something my mother loved doing as well.  She went to all 50 states...including Alaska, and Hawaii during her senior years.  She always joked, "I'm spending my kids' inheritance", and I used to tell her,  "go ahead Mother, you deserve it.  Travel, have fun!!"  I remember when she flew to Hawaii with 2 of her sisters and had the ball of her life.  She never wore make up but when she came back, she had rouge and lipstick on, which really shocked me.  As a preacher's wife, I can only remember her wearing powder, and that was it.  She and my Dad traveled to Alaska one year, and they thoroughly enjoyed the trip.  My father would have gone to Hawaii with her, but he opted out, because he is afraid of flying, like I am.  He probably really missed a fantastic time.  I still have all the Hawaii pictures my mother took, and the beautiful postcards and souveniors she brought back.

Chastity Bono...now "Chaz"...Interesting Transformation

Former Mobile County Judge Herman Thomas ACQUITTED Of All Charges!

"MOBILE, Ala. -- Former Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman Thomas, who was accused of paddling and sexually abusing young men who were facing jail time, was acquitted Monday on all charges after jurors deadlocked on most of the allegations against him."

 After the verdict, Special appointed Judge Claud Neilson  ruled that Former Judge Thomas was also not guilty of the remaining 14 charges that the 5 man, 7 woman jury could not reach a unanimous decision on.  Judge Herman Thomas stepped down from the bench back in 2007 after claims that Thomas had "paddled or spanked with a belt 11  young men for sexual gratification and, in exchange, showed them leniency."

Mobile District Attorney, John Tyson, Jr., was very disappointed with the ruling.  Judge Herman Thomas had many supporters who were quite happy with the ruling.

Let me make myself clear.  I consider ANY bookstore, an adult bookstore. If you are talking about a store that sells  nasty magazines, then you are mistaken about me.   (You can pick up girlie mags at gas stations).  I don't frequent ANY bookstores, actually other than Books A Million, but I used to travel to Christian book centers with my dad years ago.  I should clear that up for the ones who think they know it all.  I don't have time to read books. 

As for sex toys?  I wrote a post about a clothing store that was selling more than just women's clothing.  Evidently you don't see the humor in things.  I do.  As for trashy?  Think again.  I am anything but trashy.  I conducted every single campaign with dignity and respect.

If you think you insulted me?  Think again.  MOST  people who read your "bully blog" are the people who have trashy and  filthy minds.  I read it to gain insight as to what you crazy people are up to, concerning my family.  It is an informative tool for me, not entertainment, I promise you.  The filth that you allow on your blog, BK, is something  you won't see on mine.

New Women's "Clothing Store" has City Officials in Uproar!

A new business has opened up in East Alabama, and it has a few city officials a little disturbed.  It appears that Kallis not only sells WOMEN'S CLOTHING, but also women's toys.  

"According to city records, a business license was issued Sept. 16 for a women’s clothing store, doing business as “Kalli’s,” at 1639 So. College St. The issue isn’t Kalli’s selection of lingerie, costumes, hosiery, shoes and boots in the store’s main showroom. It’s the business’ assortment of sex toys, including vibrators, that are located in a restricted area of the store." 

I know that some of the council members are upset about this store, but WHY?  I still don't  understand why this has to be such an issue.  I also noticed that the article did not have any women complaining about the items being sold.    (just men, lol).  What are your views on the sale of  these "questionable" toys?

Several Candidates attend HUNTSVILLE Republican Barbecue

Halloween...do you celebrate it?

Here is a link about Halloween.  I know that people get caught up in the excitement of trick or treating, and some churches go out and collect canned goods for the poor and needy (which I used to do years ago in Virginia, for Halloween).  However, I also know that right after Halloween is over, the flus start setting in, and kids get sick from eating so much candy. 

What I'm talking about is the pagan aspect of Halloween.  I think it's a great idea that a lot of churches offer programs for children to keep them off of the streets. 

The history of Halloween dates back 2000 years ago,  in Ireland.  Halloween is an ancient "Celtic" festival of Samhain.  They lived in Ireland, The United Kingdom, and France.  Instead of celebrating the new year on January 1, the Celts celebrated it (Samhain) November 1st.  October 31st, they believed in ghosts,  "when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future".   http://www.history.com/content/halloween/real-story-of-halloween .

TASED GRANNY WINS LAWSUIT!!

Okay, this granny CERTAINLY had spunk!  She was tased TWICE by a Texas Constable and still has her sense of humor intact! 

Matt Lauer interviewed  Great Granny,  Kathryn  Winkfein on the TODAY show,  and got some pretty humorous comments out of Kathryn. 

It all started when the 72 year old granny, (only 4' 11") was stopped for going 60 mph in a 45 mph construction zone.  When the Sheriff's Constable asked "granny" to sign the ticket promising to be in court, she shot back with, "Take me to jail. Go on, take me to jail — a 72-year-old woman!”  Things got out of hand after that.  The constable threatened to tase her, so good ole spunky granny said, "“Go ahead, Tase me!”  Well, HE DID.  (TWICE).    "Granny" sued, and settled out of court for $40,000. 

What I thought was cute, was when Matt lauer asked "Granny" if she might have been a little bit argumentive with the constable, she replied, "“I told what I remembered,”...“When he Tased me and kept it on and it threw me to the ground, that erased all memory".  what a hilarious Grandma!

Meeting in the Park was a SUCCESS!!

Several people attended the Meeting In The Park today, for Judicial Reform.  The people who came represented all 3 counties of the 19th Judicial Circuit.  Brandy Knight, Coordinator of the meeting, was very pleased with the turnout, as was I.  We have several pictures to share with you, but will be posting the stories either tomorrow or the next day, depending on when the final drafts are ready. 

The rain held off for us today, and we even saw some sun shining through the clouds.   What a great day!  In attendance, were two individuals who were former candidates for sheriff in two separate counties of the 19th Judicial Circuit, and one individual who is running for Coroner of Chilton County.  We even had a guest come from as far away as Jefferson County!  The Clanton Advertiser even had an article on the front page concerning Brandy's Meeting in the Park... http://clantonadvertiser.com/news/2009/oct/09/rally-will-focus-judicial-system/#comments

We decided in unison that we will continue to hold our meetings, and try to conduct them about once a month in one of the 3 19th Judicial Circuit Counties. The county of choice for November will be announced at a later day.  We will keep you posted.

Dentist Kim Kornegay in Prattville Protesting Liquor License Ordered by Judge John Bush

I found this to be quite interesting!   A Prattville dentist, Kim Kornegay is protesting Circuit Judge John Bush's decision to grant a liquor license to Hiro Koda's new business in Prattville,  CLUB BTS. 

Hiro Koda was denied a license through the Prattville City Council, and had appealed to Autauga County Circuit Court.  Circuit Court Judge, John Bush granted the liquor license, and Hiro Koda plans to open up his club on Sunday afternoon.   I say Kudos to Judge John Bush for his decision. 

I have noticed that there have been other owners in the past in the Autauga County/Prattville area who have been denied liquor licenses, and it stifled their businesses.  Are we not supposed to support local businesses, and want them to thrive?  This is not a religious decision for one to make.  I welcome any and all posts concerning this issue...even anonymous, unless they are hateful and spiteful.  Attacking someone's character is not the answer here.  I want to hear REAL opinions of why or why not Judge Bush should have ruled the way he did.  I want to hear REAL opinions, also, of why or why not the council denied the liquor license.

My good friend Brandy (  http://knight-fairjustice.blogspot.com/ )      has scheduled the Meeting in the Park (about the 19th Judicial Circuit and those who are concerned and want to improve the Circuit), for this coming Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:00, Clanton City Park, (right behind Freds).  You turn left into a small driveway, which I believe is Park Drive, right before you get to the light.  Several have mentioned an interest in attending this meeting.  The City of Clanton has given us permission to hold the meeting. News media  has contacted Brandy and expressed an interest in covering the meeting.   If you are a concerned citizen of the 19th Judicial Circuit (Chilton, Elmore, and Autauga County), then you should plan to attend and visit with other like minded citizens who wish to make the circuit a better one for all.

The Press Register in Mobile says that 91 former State Attorney Generals from all over the United States, are advocating for former Governor of Alabama, Don Siegelman.  Most contend that his conviction was politically motivated.  In July of 2007, 44 former State Attorney Generals were asking for an investigation into Don's case. (through signed letter to Congress).  "It's an awesome statement," said Robert Abrams, former Democratic attorney general of New York. "Never before, in the history of this nation, have former attorneys general banded together in unity before the courts of this country in such great number."

Atlanta Based SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE To Choose New President

The Atlanta based Southern Christian Leadership Conference, co-founded by the late Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.,  is narrowing down their finalists for President of the SCLC.  The 2 finalists are Rev. Bernice King (Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter), and Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge Wendell Griffen. Alabamian Charles Steele was President of the SCLC for 5 years until he resigned in February. 

WOMAN GETTING PLASTIC SURGERY..NOW BRAIN DEAD

Please consider the consequences and after effects of plastic surgery before you attempt to get any type of treatment performed.  Surgery does not always turn out like you want it to.  I'm sure this case was one in a million, but it does happen.

11 ALABAMIANS HAVE DIED FROM SWINE FLU

3 more have died in Alabama from Swine Flu, bringing the total to 11 so far.  "a man in his 60s from Talladega County, a woman in her 50s from Madison County and a woman in her 70s from Jackson County. " 

As you can see, different ages, and all of these people were 50 and above.  Alabama is supposed to receive it's first shipment of the vaccines for H1N1 next week.  Alabama will be receiving 45,000 doses of the Nasal Spray to begin with.  The shots come later.  WASH YOUR HANDS RELIGIOUSLY!!!  I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder of washing my hands, and I'm glad I do.  It's important to wash hands frequently to cut down on getting colds and viruses.  Also, viruses enter the body through the nose as well as the mouth, so the Nasal Spray should help combat this virus.  Also, I believe it's important to stay away from crowds of people.  The more people you are around, the higher your chances are of catching any kind of flu.  http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2009/10/three_more_alabama_swine_flu_v.html

I took some time off today from my normal schedule to go see my brother in Birmingham.  We took him with us to some thrift stores around the area.  Here are some pictures of some great stores you should visit, if you are in Central and North Alabama.  They have everything from neat glassware, collectibles, jewelry, clothing, kitchenware, household items, furniture, lighting fixtures, toys, ETC....They have just about everything,  ....EVEN the KITCHEN SINK lol...

LOSE YOUR PARENTAL RIGHTS IN ALABAMA?? You STILL May Pay Child Support!!

Republican Mark Erwin wants to DUKE IT OUT with TYSON...JOHN TYSON, JR. that is....

I tell you what...I met John Tyson Jr. in 2006 during the state races at a Cullman forum where we all gave our presentations for our platforms, and he is a TALL, BIG man.  I wouldn't want to  have to duke it out with him in the court system OR in the political arena LOL!!  You go, John!!
