"MOBILE, Ala. -- Former Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman Thomas, who was accused of paddling and sexually abusing young men who were facing jail time, was acquitted Monday on all charges after jurors deadlocked on most of the allegations against him."

After the verdict, Special appointed Judge Claud Neilson  ruled that Former Judge Thomas was also not guilty of the remaining 14 charges that the 5 man, 7 woman jury could not reach a unanimous decision on.  Judge Herman Thomas stepped down from the bench back in 2007 after claims that Thomas had "paddled or spanked with a belt 11  young men for sexual gratification and, in exchange, showed them leniency."

Mobile District Attorney, John Tyson, Jr., was very disappointed with the ruling.  Judge Herman Thomas had many supporters who were quite happy with the ruling.
