BULLYING....a horrible crime that hits close to home...

I know some people who are still in a bully group, but also were even in a bully BLOG that was named, "Tellthatbullywhatyoureallythink"....That pretty much says it all, when you are a member of something like that.  You can't deny it, diablol and BK's groups...It's sad...and you need to get realistic about the issue of bullying...It's a crime and whomever seeks out others to bully because they want to hurt them...should be punished.....LEGALLY.

10 years ago...(Tuesday)...Shannon Paulk Disappeared in Prattville

Frantic searches for little Shannon Nicole Paulk were conducted...to no avail...10 years ago..and a couple of months, Shannon's body was found in a wooded area north of Prattville.  How can someone  just discard a child's body? ...It was a  horrific crime, and one that no one who lives in this area will ever forget. CASEY ANTHONY CLEARED OF MURDER CHARGES

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43636855/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

I listened on the radio yesterday as the jury verdict was read...I was tuned in to the Matt Murphy show, and they carried the verdict reading live on their show. After hearing so much about this case, I was actually surprised that the jury found Casey Not Guilty.  There are really no winners in this case.  A precious little girl was murdered.  If Casey did not commit this murder...then the real killer should be found.  The prosecutors need to press forward until justice is served.

The President Of The United States Deserves RESPECT!....

racWhat has happened to our country when people show a lack of respect for our own President?  What was Mark Halperin thinking when he stated he thought that President Barack Obama was a dick?  We are talking about the man who was responsible for issuing instructions that brought about the capture of Osama Bin Laden.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/30/mark-halperin-obama-msnbc_n_888067.html

This kind of reminds me of the shoe throwing incident with President Bush  http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/journalist-puts-a-shoe-on-the-president-george-w-bush-during-a/2fc8bfcebdd8cf0f37292fc8bfcebdd8cf0f3729-1034195436413?q=insults+by+people+to+the+president&FORM=VIRE4

Or the Republican congressman, (Joe Wilson) who shouted out, "You Lie" to the President http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/09/10/republican-congressman-yells-you-lie-during-obama-speech/

We have a right to speak out, BUT as Americans, I believe we should hold our tongues and have respect....for our President.

Happy Fourth of July everybody!!  Let's be proud we are Americans.... God Bless America...

TimeLine of Sue Bell Cobb as Chief Justice...Let's Take a LOOK!

Sue Bell Cobb became Chief Justice of Alabama in 2007....

In 2009, Sue Bell was considering running for Governor of Alabama (stepping stone here)...  http://www.politicalparlor.net/wp/2009/05/28/cobbs-decision-still-in-the-air/

And then, just yesterday, Sue Bell announced she will step down in August...from her position as Chief Justice of Alabama..."for her family and friends"...

Alabama Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb to Resign....INTERESTING!!!

Alabama Chief Justice, Sue Bell Cobb, has announced today that she will step down from her high office as leader of the Judicial system of Alabama (Administrative Office of Courts, etc...).  Her  reasons...she wants to spend more time with friends and family.  I know that Sue Bell worked really hard to get to this position...with her family helping in her campaign...(Remember, "This Little Light Of Mine")....does this mean that the light will no longer "shine"?  http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2011/06/alabama_chief_justice_sue_bell_3.html

"Another statewide race at this point in time would require me to raise millions of dollars while constantly endeavoring to appear and remain impartial".. Well, I don't remember Sue Bell being "impartial", when she ruled on a case involving one of my family members, while at the same time, campaigning for Susan Parker (my opponent in the 2006 Alabama State Public Service Commission race)...

Back in 2009, Sue Bell Cobb was considering leaving her position as Chief Justice to run for Governor of Alabama....  http://www.politicalparlor.net/wp/2009/05/28/cobbs-decision-still-in-the-air/

This is the 2nd Judge in Alabama to resign, or alert us to a resignation,  in 2 weeks...the other Judge was Patricia Warner in Montgomery ...http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/2011/06/divorce-court-judge-faces-74-charges-of.html

Allie From Bama....I've got ya covered girl!!

I might even start enjoying this....you know...being "in the know" now.. Nothing like taking the wind out of the sails of your stalker!  Allie...this one's for you..."Looking forward to the Christmas lights again this year!"

Hey Mr. "Charter" ...Why are you stalking me?

I'm just curious as to why a certain Charter person, that is involved with the Sheriff's Department...is stalking me on my website.  Yesterday, this individual visited my site over 10 times...and that's kind of weird.  This same individual is also the same person who wishes me no good things...He/she has tried to post on several occasions, to this website...and the things that they have tried to post contained vulgarity and profanity towards me...so I refused to post the messages.  The reason I know that they are involved with the Autauga County Sheriff's Department, is because they are constantly looking up posts that are involving the sheriff and people who have run for sheriff...as well as comments they made about being angry that I posted pictures of 3 deputy squad cars parked outside of Citgo at the Pine Level exit.  I did let a few posts of this individual's go through...but they still weren't very nice posts.

I hope that whoever this individual is...decides that he/she wants to quit watching and following me...it's creepy, and it's starting to alarm me a little bit.  This person has a MAC computer apparatus...and uses the Charter service.  He/she comes to my site at all hours of the day...I guess Herbie must have someone watching me?  One more thing...they have already visited my site this morning...EARLY.  It's okay to visit my site...it's a public site, and it's a POLITICAL SITE...however, this person's intentions with me, are not of a positive manner...Should I be concerned about this???

Supreme Court Ruling...Police Can Have Easier Access To Your Home...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sc-dc-0517-court-search-20110516,0,5858981.story

This ruling gives way to the police to be able to break down your door, if they come to it, anticipating a drug search, and "hear"  the inhabitants doing what the police "assume" is "destroying evidence"...Kentucky Case....8-1 decision...Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. stated that people that "attempt to destroy evidence have only themselves to blame"..(when law enforcement burst into their homes).  The 1 Justice to stand up for the public was Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  She was afraid the Kentucky case will make it easier for police to ignore the 4th Amendment.

Boones Chapel Disaster & Update on the HOLLON FAMILY

Yesterday I had the opportunity of speaking with one of the fire fighters from the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department.  These men do an EXCELLENT job for our area, and we should be so proud of them...as well as Prattville Fire Department and the other fire departments around the area.  Chief Terry Brown was the first on the scene of the Boone's Chapel tornado disaster. The Pine Level Fire Department was next, with the summoning of the Prattville Fire Department. The rescue squads and Autauga County Emergency Management (EMA) all played an equal part in this disaster. Our District 4 County Commissioner, Jay Thompson, and County Commission Chairman, Danny Chavers were there as well to aid with their assistance.  All of the men and women worked hard ...and as a team to get the Hollon family out of the horrible mass of twisted metal and debris.  I understand that Faith Hollon was several feet down under the rubble with her father ...and it took several of the men working hard with only 2 flashlights to reach her.  The blow up bags, like the jaws of life, were used to get through the debris so they could rescue the family. The volunteer firemen heard Faith crying, and kept digging to find  her.  I cannot imagine the horror of knowing a child was under the debris and time was the essence of saving her.   Steve Hollon played a major role in saving his daughter...there is no question about that...He was a true hero of the night....along with the  help of the Pine Level Fire Department and the Prattville Fire Department.  Steve gave his life in order that his daughter would live....That is a true miracle in itself...that Faith survived.  Faith's older sister, Renee and the grandmother Sarah Hollon (Willard's wife) are all recovering...Steve's wife, Karen, also survived....and we thank God for that miracle of that awful night. Quote from CBS news..
"Steve Hollon had recently retired from the Air Force and moved into his father's home with his wife and two daughters while they remodeled a home of their own up the road — he had come to this small community about 25 miles from Montgomery to be closer to his dad."  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/16/national/main20054611.shtml

We also need to pray for the recovery of "Miss Tunnie"...a woman my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting at the county commission meetings.  Jessie Mitchell (Miss Tunnie) was listed in critical condition on Tuesday...from Friday night's tornado.  Miss Tunnie (age 72), was thrown about 60 feet from her mobile home..and is still recovering.
"She received head injuries, a broken pelvis, and internal injuries"  http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011104200362
The communities of Boone's Chapel, Marbury and Pine Level are all struggling to pull together from recent tragedies.  A few weeks ago, Leon McCord and his wife were lost in a house fire. Our Bridge Creek area lost another great citizen and good family man...Carl James McCord, who was a good friend of our family, passed away...Not long ago, Steven Dorough was murdered in the Verbena area.  So much loss in such a short time.  We pray for all of these individuals...and pray for the return of Jesus soon...to take away these sorrows.  We want to be re-united with our loved ones...

TORNADOS BROUGHT DISASTER AND SADNESS TO ALABAMA

The state of Alabama has suffered a great hardship from the turmoil and disaster that occurred when over 30 tornados swept through our state on Friday and early Saturday morning.  3 people in the Willard Hollon family lost their lives, including Willard, his son Steve, and his daughter Cheryl.  The Boones Chapel Church in our Pine Level Community suffered great devastation to their church, as well as several homes in the area.  Trees and power lines down...just a horrible disaster. Our prayers go out to the families who were affected by this storm, and our deepest sympathies go out to the Hollon family for their great sadness and loss.  http://www.waka.com/news/6877-three-killed-in-autauga-co-storm-damage.html

WAKA Meteorologist Ashley McDonald really did a terrific job covering the severe weather...her updates were up to the minute, and I felt they were thorough.

GUEST ARTICLE by Nicholas Scott...."Saying No To The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011"

Saying No To The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011

In light of the pending EPA budget cuts, the citizens of the United States now face the real possibility of what would amount to a “stop-work order” on the 40 year old, extremely beneficial (benefits that outweigh costs at a 40:1 ratio) Clean Air Act.

You’ve heard it correctly. Senator James Inhofe is spearheading a movement towards eliminating the EPA’s flagship regulation; one that has effectively protected the public health for decades. The Clean Air Act works to drastically at reducing harmful pollution, specifically greenhouse gases. This nefarious proposal will prolong America’s addiction to oil and other ancient energy technologies. It will delay any sort of forward movement towards a cleaner, progressive energy economy.

Inhofe’s propsed http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=42561 would force the EPA to watch idly as the big oil and coal companies ravage the environment. Accountability will be a thing of the past for polluters. One would think the Senate has learned their lesson from the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico; but apparently that is not the case.

Luckily, not everyone is as blind as the U.S. Senate appears to be at this moment. In an article from Politico, two energy investors – one Democrat, one Republican – explain what’s at stake:

We are not experts in vote counting or horse trading. But we do know how investors and markets will respond if Congress ultimately fails to put a market-based price on carbon. The response from capital will be brutal: Money will flow to places like China, Europe and India - and U.S. jobs will go with it.

The path to creating more U.S. jobs is simple: Pass legislation that eliminates uncertainty and levels the playing field, and investors will fund projects that create good jobs here at home. Rules bring certainty, certainty spurs investment, and investment creates jobs.

So while proponents of Inhofe’ Energy Tax Prevention Act may feel that lifting the Clean Air Act’s restrictions will increase revenue, stimulate the economy, and create job growth – they may have the wrong idea. Rather than moving the economy forward, the U.S. Senate may move it significantly in the wrong direction.

What makes this motion even more unbelievable is that the science of climate change is clearer and more disturbing than ever. Heat waves are getting worse, the ice caps are shrinking faster than ever, and scientists are telling us that the world is setting new temperature records almost every month, every year, and every decade. Furthermore, the EPA has stated that 160,000 cases of premature death, 130,000 heart attacks, 1.7 million asthma attacks, and 13 million lost work days have been prevented due to initiatives such as The Clean Air Act. It was these very same regulations that have contributed to the extremely low number of  mesotheliomia related deaths, dropping the annual rate down to under 3000 per year. This statistic alone is a remarkable feat, considering the mesothelioma life expectancy is shorter than 14 months at most.

This issue seems to be a rare case where good policy (the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions, protecting public health, taking the necessary steps toward a clean energy revolution) and good politics with strong poll results seem to align. But still, the U.S. Senate appears ready to ignore both the good policy and good politics in favor of what seems to be a partisan agenda. We must not let them do it. Call your senators and tell them “no way” to the Energy Tax Prevention Act.

CONGRESS REACHES A DEAL!!! NO GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN!!!!

As all Americans awaited in suspense about a looming shutdown of government, Congress came back with a surprise to save the day!  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_re_us/us_spending_showdown

An agreement was struck to pay for government expenses and operations THROUGH SEPTEMBER... (giving time for further negotiations), and also cutting 38.5 billion in spending.  Now our troops can rest assured that there will be no halt in paychecks coming to their spouses and families.  That's one of the best aspects of the deal, to me.  Our men and women fight for our freedom...and while they sometimes feel it is a thankless job, it would have been a "payless" job had government shut down.  Yes...it's a GREAT DAY IN AMERICA, everybody...as Craig Ferguson would put it.  Thank you Jesus!

Have you ever wondered how a government shutdown would affect America?  Here's a breakdown of some of the governmental functions that would be affected, and how.

**Military would have to continue working, but not get paid.
**Mail service would CONTINUE, through rain, sleet, or snow.  (The USPS doesn't receive taxpayer funding, as they are "self funded".)
**Medicare would still be functional, as they would receive money from an "emergency trust fund".
**Social Security would still operate, and beneficiaries would still receive their checks.
**IRS would still operate, but under limited capabilites.  Tax deadline would remain the same...April 18.  However, no paper taxes would be "processed".  (about 30 percent of filers depend on this process). There would be a suspension of tax audits, etc. Here's the glitch, though...the IRS would continue to "collect tax money".
**Department of Veterans Affairs would continue services, but be limited.   Health and benefit payments would still continue...(they receive their money on a 2 year cycle).  If you would expect an answer to a question via email or phone, you would be disappointed...as those services would be temporarily suspended.
**Airports would continue without delay...they are "essential".
**Law Enforcement would continue...(FBI, U.S. Marshals, DEA, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives).
The list goes on and on...but that's some of the major federal agencies  that Americans depend on strongly.

Deputy Finds Remains of Missing Ex Wife While Searching For Meth Lab

This is one of the strangest stories I have encountered in a long time.  I thought I would share it with you...

Deputy Eddie Walker, while searching for a meth lab at a motel, found the missing piece to the puzzle he had been searching for,  for many years...the remains of his ex wife.  This is absolutely a heart wrenching story, ...so sad for the family, but at least some closure for the children of Carol Stallings Grannon who was allegedly murdered by her then husband, Jeffrey Grannon.

I think it was a good idea for new Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie to request an audit of the city's finances...but I'm not so sure of this decision he made to  have Stanley Gann resign.  WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley...sworn in, and Governor of ALL?

This past week, we Alabamians watched or attended the inauguration of Doctor Robert Bentley as Alabama's newly elected Governor.  The swearing in process was quite interesting.  All photos shown in this post are courtesy of Fred Marshall, one of my friends and a professional photographer.

I listened to the speeches of our new Governor, Doctor Robert Bentley, and found his speech to be quite impressive.  I was also impressed by the speech of Young Boozer, our newly elected State Treasurer.  Here is another amazing photo courtesy of Fred Marshall, professional photographer.

Congratulations to the both of you....may you serve us Alabamians with honesty and openness.

ANOTHER GREAT "DNA EXONERATED" STORY...MAN FREED AFTER 30 YEARS IN PRISON!!

I have said it all along...we are putting people in prison for crimes they did not commit...and we should be ASHAMED for ruining people's lives... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110104/ap_on_re_us/us_dna_exoneration

Cornelius Dupree Jr., was sentenced in 1980 for Rape and Robbery charges he was not guilty of...

One sweet end to the story, BESIDES Cornelius being exonerated for a crime  he didn't commit, was GETTING MARRIED one day after his exoneration.  Congratulations, Mr. Dupree!

S.510 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act

S.510 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act

What are your thoughts on this Act that was recently passed?

Here's another link to get an idea on what is involved in this Act.  http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-510

"If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny."

"If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny."
-Thomas Jefferson

...it is time to take action!  Last week the Senate passed a bill (S.510 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act) that massively increases the scope of what the FDA can do.  Dr. Shiv Chopra had this to say about the bill:
"If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public's right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes.  It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God."
The bill goes to the House of Representatives, and it is important for you to contact your Representative now to stop this bill from becoming law!

When it comes to S. 510, the question that you need to ask yourself is this....
Do you trust the FDA?
If not, then there are some very real reasons for you to be concerned.
The following are 12 reasons why S. 510 could be absolutely disastrous for small food producers and for the U.S. economy....
#1 All food production facilities in the United States will be required to register with the U.S. government.   No food will be allowed to be grown, distributed or sold outside this bureaucratic framework unless the FDA allows it.

#2 Any food that is distributed or sold outside of U.S. government control will be considered illegal smuggling.

#3 The FDA will hire an army of new inspectors to enforce all of the new provisions in the bill.

#4 The FDA will be mandated to conduct much more frequent inspections of food processing facilities.

#5 The fees and paperwork requirements will be ruinously expensive for small food producers and organic farms.

#6 Senate Bill 510 would place all U.S. food and all U.S. farms under the Department of Homeland Security in the event of a major "contamination" or an "emergency".  What exactly would constitute a "contamination" or an "emergency" is anyone's guess.

#7 S 510 mandates that the FDA facilitate harmonization of American food laws with Codex Alimentarius.

#8 S 510 imposes an annual registration fee on any facility that holds, processes, or manufactures food.  It also includes draconian fines for paperwork infractions of up to $500,000 for a single offense.  Just one penalty like that would drive a small food producer out of business.

#9 S. 510 would give the FDA tremendous discretion to regulate how crops are grown and how food is produced in the United States.  Basically, small farmers and organic farmers will now be forced to farm exactly how the federal government tells them to.  It is feared that the U.S. government would soon declare that many organic farming methods are "unsafe" and would outlaw them.  In addition, there is the very real possibility that at some point the U.S. government could decide that the only "safe" seed for a particular crop is genetically modified seed and would require all farmers to use it.

#10 S 510 will give the FDA the power to impose a quarantine on a specific geographic area.  Basically the FDA would have the power to stop the movement of all food in an area where a "contamination" has been identified.  This would be very close to being able to declare martial law.

#11 S 510 will give the FDA the power to conduct warrantless searches of the business records of small food producers and organic farmers, even if there has been no evidence at all that a law has been broken.

#12 Opponents of S. 510 believe that it would eliminate the right to clean and store seed.  Therefore, control of the U.S. seed supply would be further centralized in the hands of Monsanto and other multinational corporations.

As mentioned above, this bill gives the FDA a ton of discretion.  It is written very broadly and very vaguely.  It opens the door for all kinds of abuses, but that doesn't mean that the FDA will behave unreasonably.

What a classic!!  Gone but not forgotten, Gloria!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

A new year always brings so many exciting things to people.  Resolutions, new friends, new family members, new pets, new goals.  I have always loved goals and I hope that each one of you has one and can achieve it in the year 2011.  I can't imagine life without goals.  Since I was a little girl, I always had something planned, something to look forward to.  As a grown woman, I STILL plan things and hope for a better future for all of us.  Good luck to you all in your endeavors.
