JERRY'S KIDS!!! Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon!

http://www.mda.org/telethon/

Every year, JERRY LEWIS raises money through the MDA TELETHON.  Locally, in Central Alabama, you can call, 334-260-0489   and  1-800-631-0665  (Nationwide).  WAKA is almost at 123,000.  Elmore has a challenge right now...all women and children to donate $25.00.

Watching the Telethon every year is inspiring to me, and this year, watching Augie, his wife Lynne, and one of their son's appearance on the show...was very touching. Augie & Lynne Nietos are co-chairpersons of the MDA's ALS Division  Augie has progressed with the Lou Gehrig's Disease over the past 4 years.  He is now in a wheelchair and speaks through a machine...with his eyes. Truly Amazing couple!  Have raised 19 million dollars for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).  http://www.als-mda.org/nietos.html

I used to watch the telethon every year--but today, we decided not to turn the TV on all day. NICE and QUIET... I love it!!!!!

Jerry does a great job with raising money though at that telethon.

Yes, I watched it today awhile...and got a tissue out when the Nietos came out...That reminded me of watching Brian Song, and that was one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. Lou Gehrigs disease is an awful disease, to deteriorate a person from the person they once was, and robs them of so much, kind of like Altzteimers does....only IT robs you of the mind. I was lucky my mother didn't have it before she passed away at 89. I really have great respect for the care giver members of families of patients who have any of these diseases, to have to watch their loved one slip away to an awful illness. I just lost my friend Linda Agin to cancer, and I just wish I had more time with her...she was too young to go.

this saturday, we'll have a pool party for the kid who died of cancer, alex scott. it's really sad when people just die like that, and when they're the REALLY GOOD ones, you know, not that i'm wishing OTHERS ill. it affects us strangers, and i can just imagine the pain the family members must feel. i'm sorry for your loss, ms. deb.

thank you Cherie...for your comments and for the condolences. My friend Linda was a legend in her time with antiques, and with society. I loved her dearly, and always will.

On MDA, it IS terribly sad to see all the trials and tribulations that these children are suffering, as well as their families, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, etc. I just thank God that all of my children were healthy, and didn't have to go repeatedly to Children's Hospital. We should keep in our prayers all of those who suffer daily.
