JUDGE SIBLEY REYNOLDS NEEDS TO "GET OVER" HIS CALLOUS BEHAVIOR!!

A good friend of mine informed me the other day about a Letter To The Editor of the Chilton County News in Clanton that was not only sad, but it re-confirmed what I already knew. He is a jerk, and is oblivious to a parent's pain, as acknowledged through his own actions.

Jessica Jones was killed in an auto accident on July 23, 2008 while riding with another girl who had a blood alcohol level of .145 (according to the State of Alabama toxicology report). Jessica's Aunt, Glenda Popwell, and her parents, Randy & Deborah Jones, were told by the District Attorney's office that they could present any evidence they wished to, or statements at the sentencing of the driver of the car who had plead guilty to manslaughter. However, at sentencing, Judge Sibley Reynolds advised the family of the girl that was killed in the wreck, to seek "grief" counseling, and to GET OVER IT...Reynolds did NOT allow the family to read their statements. Glenda Popwell told me that Reynolds slammed his hand down at the bench, when he said, "get over it, I said to get over it". In Glenda, Randy & Deborah's Letter To The Editor, they wrote, "These dealings with the legal system in Chilton County, and with this judge, have been the second worst thing we have ever had to go through. It has severely tested our faith in the system, and our belief that court proceedings are fair and just."

I can certainly agree with Glenda, Randy and Deborah concerning the actions by Judge Reynolds. In another sentencing hearing I attended where Reynolds was the judge, the same procedure was repeated. A witness was denied the right to speak on behalf of this individual, and in fact, was hauled OUT OF THE COURTROOM, by the sheriff, himself. Later at a Rule 32 Hearing, this witness did get her testimony on record, and testified to the behavior of Reynolds at the sentencing hearing, as the entire procedure being "pre-determined" and prejudicial. (This was in Autauga County). Another time, this same individual had a hearing before Judge Reynolds to have evidence presented, and before the hearing, Reynolds stated that he would allow the hearing, BUT that it would be held OFF THE RECORD. All proceedings in Circuit Court are to be transcribed by a court reporter. THAT IS THE LAW. Reynolds has a way of by passing the law. I AM WITNESS TO THAT!!

Glenda, Randy, and Deborah...I say to you today, that your pain has not gone unheard. You are in my prayers, and I promise you, I will help you every step of the way, to see that someone runs against Judge Sibley Reynolds. We MUST take all steps to see that he does not get re-elected.

GADS Deb... There are so many stupid judges in this country---which we elected. Of course, I think there are too many stupid congressmen/women and senators also.. AND--we elected them too. What's up with that?????

Hugs,
Betsy

AMEN...You are so right and I pray everyone is listening, it is very important that we all try to do whatever it takes in order to get this judge out of our county and "OFF" of our court benches FOREVER. His trials are not fair regardless of what type; civil or criminal. He will not act accordingly and he will never follow state laws as long as he is on the bench. It is time for the
19th circuit to be sure and come together for one another and remove him from that high horse he thinks he is on.

Judicial Misconduct is one of the worst problems we have in the State of Alabama, Betsy. Inappropriate rulings, partiality, Judicial Canon of Ethics violations, all of these run rampant in this state. That is one of my major goals for this state,...JUDICIAL REFORM. How are things there in Tennessee?

I tried to post the following yesterday but it still isn’t posted today:

Betsy from Tennessee (my home state, before I settled in Alabama) wrote: “There are so many stupid judges in this country---which we elected. Of course, I think there are too many stupid congressmen/women and senators also.. AND--we elected them too. What's up with that?????”

My guess is that there are entirely too many clueless, uninformed, and STUPID voters who put them in office. Do I win a cigar?

I only give out cigars, if you had a baby LOL...Yeah, Don, you win a cigar. You are always so right on what you post. We are going to work hard to see that this judge has to answer to the people.

Thanks for the cigar Deb. Fortunately I didn’t have to produce a baby to win it because I think I’m too old to do that.

You have related mail waiting for you. :-)

My sister just got out of court this morning with judge Reynolds. It was one of the worst things I had ever witnessed. He verbally atacted my sister and threatened to put her in jail and take her daughter away. He told her she had no control over her own daughter that he had all the control. He also screamed at her husband to all he did was put his hands up. I thought for sure he was going to jail. He didn't want to hear evidence that we had, he barely listened to her lawyer. My sister and I were both crying at this point and I think that got him off because he just got worse.
To top it all off he told his court reported ahead of time not to transcribe. So its not on the record.

To Anonymous poster, You are more than welcome to email me if you like, and tell me more in private about what happened to you. Several horror stories are starting to emerge concerning Judge Reynolds, and they are not pretty stories, either. Reynolds has SCARE tactics that he uses to break people into silent submission. Keeping proceedings off the record is illegal. I know of another case in Autauga County where Reynolds did a COMPLETE HEARING off the record, so I do share your pain.

I saw this character today in court. The situation was that the other party broke the signed agreement and that was why we were in court. Also the mother has soul custody of the child in which the dead beat father walked out on and does nothing for the child. Every since the father gave up all parental rights the grandparents have been fighting to get his rights First when we started this morning he asked the court reporter to not take notes and then asked the lawyers to step to the front. He appeared to be listening before he went on his attitude trip by yelling at the mother which had been going by the paper he had signed months before. He then went on to tell the mother that she had no control of the child the he had the control, in which he would tell her who the child goes around, where the child sleeps, eats, and plays. He then told the mother that if they came back to court that he would take the child from the mother. ( Note the mother has never had a crime, she has been the only parent with the child her entire life, she gets no help from the grandparents what so ever, the mother doesn't drink, does no drugs, and does have a job). He then proceeded to try to throw everyone with her in jail for I guess looking at him, also threaten to throw the mother in jail for saying that she didn't understand why she was being fussed at for doing what he said. During this he never said one word to the party for breaking the agreement in which he drew up and made. He then told us to go into another room and for her lawyer to talk some sense into her (note the mother was not the one who broke the agreement). While she was in the back, Judge Reynolds barged in the room yelling at the mother and everyone with her and at the same time telling her that if she didn't admit she was wrong then she ran the risk of going to jail and losing her child ( again note that the mother was not at fault, she has soul custody of the child, works, does no drugs, doesn't drink, and gets no help with the childs expenses). Once she came back into the court room he made her say she was wrong for being upset, he also made her admit to him that she done something wrong when the judge new that she was not, he again kept telling her that if the grandparents would get the times they wanted and that she would have to adjust to their schedule. After all this he started saying how she was young and dumb and that she was in the wrong for fighting for her and her childs rights ( note she was told she had no rights he had them).

Anonymous, I do understand what you are saying, and what you are going through. I was once, in front of this very same judge, on many different occasions for one of my family members. It sucks to be the one to have to beg for rights. It sucks to have to look at the smirk on his face, when he shows his powerful "authority". I DO know, and I DO feel your pain. I am here for you whenever you need to post, or you are welcome to email me at this address. Murphree4psc@yahoo.com. Thank you for taking time out to make a post; especially after going through all of that trauma you experienced, today. (It appears this Judge may be losing his touch with reality).

IS THERE NOT SOMETKING WE CAN DO ABOUT THIS SO CALLED JUDGE? LIKE CALL SOMEONE IN MONTGOMERY. HE IS NOT THE KIND OF JUDGE WE NEED.

If there is anything that could be done to have Judge Sibley Reyonds taken off the bench I would certainly be the first one in line to sign up. I have been to court with him in which I was on the witness stand and he was either on the phone or walking out to the hall and he did not listen to my side. Lord help us, there is no justice as long as he remains the Judge. wendez123@yahoo.com
