CASH FOR CLUNKERS Program/GRRRRRRR

I admire this program, as it has helped Americans by getting GAS guzzlers off the highway. HOWEVER, I looked into the program myself, and can you believe this??? My car missed being a clunker by 3 MILES PER GALLON!! Yes, I know!! I could not believe it myself. I have a 95 Chevrolet Lumina that has lasted me 4 years, and I have truly been blessed with this car. It lasted through my PSC State campaign, where I traveled all over the state of Alabama to meet the public. I have used this car longer than ANY car I have ever had. I love my car, and the service it has done for me. However, it is getting on up there in years, and I was considering the Cash for Clunkers program and getting another car. Shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell my car, because I have to use it longer now. LMAO....I really didn't like the prospect of having it crushed, either. What a terrible tribute to such a dedicated car, right?? Well, it turns out that my car evidently gets 21 miles per gallon, while the cut off for the Cash for Clunkers program is 18 miles per gallon. Ok...I can be patient. President Obama...please come up with a new program that will fit my car's description. I will participate, given the right program. I have always been very cost conscious about things, (shopping at yard sales for things I could use in the house, and purchasing the kids' clothes at K-mart clearances. ) I have only owned ONE new car in my entire life, and that one has been gone a long time ago. So, I'm asking President Barack Obama to have mercy on me...and also to consider a program where my car, could be put to good use, (my Lumina). I could not bear the thought of it going to a junk yard, and being crushed. Ha ha...if another program comes up, ya'll let me know. Sometimes, I stay too busy to catch all of the news.

You are so funny, Deb... Maybe that old Lumina will last longer than some of the newer ones!!! Ya think????? ha

That program may have helped get some gas-guzzlers off of the streets --but I feel sorry for the dealers. Our stupid Government (which cannot run squat adequately) hasn't paid back the dealers for the cars they have sold. I despise Government-run, bureaucratic, crappy, full of miles of paper-work programs that are supposed to help us. GADS!!!!

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Yes, I read somewhere that the government had not paid some of the dealers back yet, so they were discontinuing the program BEFORE the government did. I hope they all get paid. It certainly looked like it had "jump started" a lot of car businesses. Is that the funding that was supposed to be promised to the dealers, or didn't they get money before this program? I thought that they had been bailed out a while back to keep them from going bankrupt? I remember seeing about so many car dealerships that were hurting and having to close. It's sad that all of a sudden people are going out and purchasing automobiles and houses, also, because the prices are so low. Reminds me...I want to purchase that ocean front property in Arizona LOL...

we had long wanted to trade that other car, but couldn't get the right price for it. it had very good mileage, on top of everything else. so when the clunker program came on, we thought to take advantage of it. i am so sorry your car missed by 3 miles per gallon, ms. deb. we were one of the last ones ourselves, so we got a brown car - the very last of the civics - which is okay. better than nothing. we waited for more than 6 hours.

Hey Cherie...I just now got back online, and approved the comments :) I have my profile set to where I have to approve all comments or my stalkers would be aggravating me and my readers all the time LOL...they get a kick out of hurting others...I hope that President Obama will come up with another plan that fits my car...you reckon he will? If you have any straight line input to him, please tell him to keep me in mind. LOL... Hey, I love your new car. Your old car wasn't bad, either. xoxo

oh. hahahaha! poor stalkers, they don't stand a chance! lol! anyway, we got a compact because we have one more large SUV, so since they are gas guzzlers, and the Isuzu's been around a while anyway, what we did was the best decision for it and for us. don't worry, i'll put in a good word for ya, hahahaha!!!

Cherie...so you still have ONE more roomy vehicle for the family. That's great! Can't get rid of ALL of the fun, eh! I'm happy for you sweetie. With the SUV you might could pile in a mother or a father in law for the long haul! LOL...
