Man Leaves Behind Home, Girlfriend, Job, to find Peace in Traveling the World!

What an exciting journey!  I cannot imagine anything more exciting than traveling around the world.  I've always wanted to go to Switzerland, or Paris, France, or Vienna, or IRELAND...Everytime I see the Irish landscapes, I want to jump in the car, drive to an airport, (oops, no, I would hate to fly)...I guess I'd  have to ride a boat LOL.. But anyway, you get the drift.  Travel is something my mother loved doing as well.  She went to all 50 states...including Alaska, and Hawaii during her senior years.  She always joked, "I'm spending my kids' inheritance", and I used to tell her,  "go ahead Mother, you deserve it.  Travel, have fun!!"  I remember when she flew to Hawaii with 2 of her sisters and had the ball of her life.  She never wore make up but when she came back, she had rouge and lipstick on, which really shocked me.  As a preacher's wife, I can only remember her wearing powder, and that was it.  She and my Dad traveled to Alaska one year, and they thoroughly enjoyed the trip.  My father would have gone to Hawaii with her, but he opted out, because he is afraid of flying, like I am.  He probably really missed a fantastic time.  I still have all the Hawaii pictures my mother took, and the beautiful postcards and souveniors she brought back.

So...I say to you, if you can travel...then TRAVEL.  See the world, and good luck to Nicholas Rapp as he starts out on his fantastic and exciting adventure!  http://autos.aol.com/article/driving-around-world?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl4|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fautos.aol.com%2Farticle%2Fdriving-around-world

Well---I say that is FINE, but only if he doesn't have responsibilities (such as a family, kids, etc.). IF he only left a girlfriend and a job, then I say "GO for it."

I just hate to hear people running out on their responsibilities --just to find 'peace' and a new life. I say: Take care of your responsibilities and then go for it!!!!

Have a safe Halloween.
Hugs,
Betsy

There are, or used to be, classes to overcome fear of flying. They show films, take you into a parked airplane, explain the safety features, and finally give you a short flight.

But today flying is so commonplace that I wonder if such classes are held.

My first flight was in 1961 on Ozark Airlines, from Des Moines to Chicago, with three stops on the way. Yes, a real puddle-jumper. It was a 27 passenger DC-3, flying above the corn fields.

You are much more safe up there than on the ground with those crazy drivers.

Nowadays I use a Southwest Airlines credit card, charge almost everything (paying off the balance in full each month) and get several free flights each year.

Hey Jay!! Yeah, I know, I'm a sissy...but somehow I feel safer with my feet on the ground?? Wonder why that is, when so many others love to fly. I even love to dream about flying (without a plane though LOL)...

I admit that flying to Europe, traveling through the nigtht, is a bit unnerving. In the dark you can't see anything below (not worth grabbing a window seat) but you know that there's the cold Atlantic below you.

The trans-Atlantic airplanes often show route maps either on large projection screens or on a small screen on the back of the seat ahead of you.
It's amazing how much of a flight to London, for example, is actually over land.
