7" MUSHROOM...UNUSUALLY LARGE

I found this mushroom in my yard, and thought it was unusually LARGE.  Has anyone seen one this large before?  Do you know what kind it is??  Please let me know, if you have any knowledge about it.

I can't tell you anything about it, but I just wanted to mention that I have seen a huge number of fairy rings throughout the Birmingham area recently. It is a little odd indeed... there's several even on the UAB campus and next to the highway.

Hi Nicjor! So this "mushroom" is probably a "fairy ring"? That's neat. I have never seen one as large as the one I found today.

Hi Deb, Ugh----I may have seen some big mushrooms in my life---but I'm not sure I've seen very many THAT big. Gads!!!!!

Are you all having tons of rain??? We are supposed to get some this week--but haven't had any yet.

Hugs,
Betsy

Hey Betsy girl...it IS unusually big, isn't it! I kept watching it...for the past week, and thinking it might be a toy of my dog Killer's...but then I finally ventured over to where it was, and found out it WAS a mushroom! lol..We have had our fair share of rain, yes. I'm ready for some cooler drier weather. How about you?

No, a "fairy ring" is a big circle of mushrooms about five feet wide or so- these kind usually. There's about twenty mushrooms or so in a fairy ring.
