Ammunition sales up...

This is a very interesting article I received in the mail today from Times Daily.  Evidently the FEAR of being regulated by the Obama Administration, has people increasing their inventory of gun related material...ammunition, etc.  People are afraid that President Barack Obama will be cutting off the ammunition supply, and are stocking up.  He hasn't, so far, though.

The NRA (National Rifle Association) noted, "about 7 billion rounds of ammunition are purchased annually in America in most years. Some 9 billion rounds have been purchased in the past year." http://www.timesdaily.com/article/20090924/ARTICLES/909245029/1011/NEWS&tc=email_newsletter

I would like to hear from others about this issue.  Are you afraid of supplies being cut off?

It is true and a direct result of statements Obama has made about gun control. My husband and I personally have purchased more ammunition than we at the moment need and do intend to buy more guns. Not because we are going to go on a crime spree or intend to shot anyone, lol, but because in this country we still can own them.

Being in China recently where guns are absolutely prohibited, although not a prevailing thought while I was there, I did give it a moment's thought that if something "happened," these people were completely at the mercy of their gov't and defenseless. Not a position I want to be in.

Control guns and the only ones that will have them will be the criminals 'cause that don't give a hoot about gun control!

I don't know what I think about guns.. I don't own one and nobody in my family has ever owned one--to my knowledge. I hate it that guns can now be taken into parks in some places. I have mixed feelings...

Betsy

They might not be cut off, but might be limited?

It's quite interesting to see the differing views about gun control. I'm glad I made this post, as I think we are going to get some exciting answers LOL...

Betsy, you are certainly entitled to your opinions :) That's what makes this country so great. And we hope it continues to be great! You, Cherie, and Jackie, all three, had differing opinions about this post. HOW NEAT!!

Unseen...thank you for visiting our blog! What is happening in India, is what people in the U.S. fear. To date, the only gun related legislation that I can find, that Obama has signed into law, was in his National Parks bill. He actually lifted the ban on firearms in National Parks. That ban was put into effect during the Reagan administration. So far President Obama is much more conservative in gun related issues than Republican Ronald Reagan! Isn't that interesting?

Compared to some of the statements he made while he was campaigning, e.g. "clinging to our guns and religion." lol, I will admit he has back pedaled on the whole gun control issue and has even thrown the proverbial bone out to the NRA I think to appease them for now.

As for "fear," I don't fear that I won't have a gun in my house to protect my family, a baseball bat works just as well if used properly, lol. I fear that another right that this Republic of ours was established on will be stripped away, which then opens the door for the removal of other rights to follow.

Hey Jackie...wouldn't it be nice to have a "taser" at your disposal in your own home, for intruders?

Actually, Deb, I would LOVE a taser! I've worked with a lot of police officers and dang if I can't get one of them to let me try theirs out! lol
