I visited a blog today, that I have been meaning to, for quite a while. Jackie had visited my website a while back, and being that my blog is only handled by one person, it's hard to get around to other places I'd like to visit, (I have grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dial up). However, I really enjoyed visiting Jackie's blog today. http://onebullandhisheifers.blogspot.com/ Visiting Jackie, and seeing her adopted child, made me realize that I needed to do a post on adoption (If I haven't already). You hear about the celebrities who adopt from other countries (Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, etc.) but I wanted to bring to light that there are other good people outside of Hollywood who do a great service to humanity and adopt a child into their home. I am the product of adoption, myself. I was adopted at the age of 1 and my brother was 2. We were raised by the Freys, and I'm sure you have seen MANY pictures of my father on here, and also on Facebook, if you are a friend of mine on there. My adopted (or adoptive?) mother passed away in 2005, and I miss her dearly to this day. My biological mother lives in Virginia, and I try to visit her once a year now. I'd go more than that, but that's all my pocketbook will allow LOL..I save from Ebay sales in the spring for my trip to Virginia. That's my special project so I can visit my biological family in Virginia. I have 6 brothers, 2 sisters, mom, and many neices and nephews to visit when I do go. The past 2 years I took my brother who lives in Birmingham. Our trips to Virginia are quite eventful, as my brother entertains us the whole trip, and that a great quality visit time for my brother David and I. We catch up on the entire year's events. We both share a love of antique malls, flea markets and yard sales, and we catch up on the latest find. He collects a certain type of china, and I collect angels, cherubs, depression glass, etc. Anyway...please drop by Jackie's site and visit with her.
One last thought...My header above is "Making the World A Better Place..for You and for Me." Michael Jackson song there. I have always loved that song from the first time I heard it. Afterall, that's what life is all about. Making things better for others.

Thanks for the visit and your kind words. Ciara is absolutely thriving! Not because we're great parents or anything, but because she's smart, funny and able to adapt to situations that quite frankly would debilitate an adult, lol
I'm glad you shared your own story of adoption and your post. Although not adoption related, I had a Great Granny that was Cherokee who lived in Tulsa OK. She was the coolest person I knew. She chewed tobacco and could spit with the best of 'em and smoked a corn cob pipe! lol

Hi Deb, Jackie is one of my favorite people... I followed her from the days when she was 'trying' to adopt --and then when she went to China to pick up Ciera. I was SO excited and happy for her. Jackie is a neat gal--and a find Christian. Glad you found her.

Ok, u2! lol. I got so caught up in the gun control conversation, I didn't realize there was a Jackie love-fest going on in the next post over, lol. Betsy is one of my new favorite people, too! I love, love, love her stories. I can see I'm going to have to start going on more road trips so I can start meeting you all in person!

I've always been fascinated with American Indians. When I used to read them, they were my favorite romance novels (ok, stop laughing), and I like the whole southwestern decor look, and let's face it half naked guys on horses are hot!!! lol

LOL...Jackie, you are cute. I'm glad we have made acquaintances now. Looking forward to meeting also, in the near future :) I've been trying to get Betsy to meet up with me in Big Stone Gap next year, (since we are both from there)...she was born there, I believe, and I lived there for a few years when my father was pastor there. It's a beautiful little town and I love Big Stone dearly, as you can tell from all of my BSG posts LOL..have a good day tomorrow Jackie...and you are welcome to make any posts you like, whenever.
