Russellville Man Drowns While Fishing

http://www.timesdaily.com/article/20090820/ARTICLES/908205036/1011/NEWS&tc=email_newsletter

There are so many misfortunate accidents on the water way..There were some Prattville residents that died awhile back, when a drunk boat driver hit them. Then there was the drowning of that Assistant District Attorney a few years back, who was boating with 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Randall Houston, and former Assistant D.A. Sam Partridge.

The man who drowned in this case was fishing with his nephew. when his 12 foot boat tipped over when he was reaching down to pull up his fishing line. The uncle was not wearing a life jacket, and could not swim. ALWAYS HAVE LIFE JACKETS ON YOUR BOAT...Prayers go out to this family in their time of grief.

hey...it's always best to have more life preservers on hand, isn't it. You never know when you might need that extra one. Hope you have a wonderful day, Cherie!

Hi Deb, What is ANYONE doing on the water without a life jacket especially when they cannot swim???? Gosh--that is terrible.

We humans just think that nothing is going to happen to US, don't we????? GADS!!!!

Hope you are having a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Betsy..that's what I don't understand...I always make my kids wear a life jacket...when they go on a boat, or if they were small, they wore life jackets in the lake, or pool, or wherever they went where there was a body of water. Actually, I thought it was the law to WEAR life jackets when you are in a boat? (Maybe just have them handy in case they are needed??). Correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with the lifejacket comment. They may be uncomfortable but I bet it is a lot more comfortable than being dead! I am from russellville, and I see so many people without life jackets on.
